Look On The Bright Side is a best book of the year!
Spring 2024 has officially started here in Colorado.

What’s going on over here and what am I working on?
Someone recently asked me if I’m working on another book and I said “yes, about seven.” But only a few I can tell you about.
Here’s what I can tell you: I’m inking my middle grade graphic novel, Exposures. Working on a graphic novel is a marathon, not a sprint. I can ink ten pages a day if I wanted to, but that’s so hard on my body. So I try to do between four to six pages and then work on other projects in between.

Wishing you a belated, but happy, mother’s day from the mom’s in Go With The Flow and Look On The Bright Side! Not all mom’s are moms (like Christine’s), because some families look different. I love the healthy relationships we have in these middle grade books!

What’s helping nourish my mind and creativity right now?
I’m not a big music listener, but I’ve been listening a lot lately to my Spring/Summer 2024 playlist that includes hits like Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter and Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. I’ve also been enjoying music by Emily Nenni, who deserves all the success. I had to make some fan art inspired by her new album, Drive and Cry.

The results of the hard labor.
Karen and I are excited to share that Look On The Bright Side is one of The Bank Street Center for Children’s Literature's BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR for 2023!
